I cannot get this programme to work

I started off using fairuse 2k, and lately Xmpeg (past year)to encode films.......over 200 encodes now
for over 2 years with no major problems. Eveyone say Gknot is the
proggy to use.....but i just can't get it to work.
I set up the job, audio, etc....easy
tell it to start the encoding
Off it goes with the audio....no problems
Gets to the video and says error difference in number of frames
counted and just stops
I'm using the setup + upgrade provided 26
and divx pro 5.02.......pal.....fast deinterlace

started/finished first pass 2 seconds (clearly wrong)
trying to open log file
could ot open log
could not count encoded frames
speed 0 frames
number of counted frames differs from settings
settings 62256
counted 0

WTF is going wrong???????????????????????/

Hi sarahjh69-

Unfortunately you couldn't get started right because of a small bug in GKnot that you knew nothing about. I can just imagine all the hours of frustration. It's a good thing you gave as much info about your steps as you did. The problem is in the use of Fast Deinterlace. Here's the Sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=25756) on it. I hope it's smooth sailing from now on.

How stupid I am for following the Guide
Its something I rarely do...............
I have selected field deinterlace instead of fast and all works!!!!

It is easy to use, easy to get the sound (I don't use smartripper,
as I prefer the ease of dvd decryptor) even tho the guide says use smart ripper.....well done to those who created gknot!!!!

Just a small suggestion......how about a mod to the guide...one that
says fast deinterlace doesn't work...can't be that hard to do & will
save lots of people hours of aggro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
