I bought a 25 pack of the Ritek dvd-r's from Supermediastore.com (the ones that I think are the same as the Primediscs). I burnt one and played it on 2 stand alones. It played fine on my Sony DVP-S300 until I checked the last 4 chapters. The video and audio skipped very badly and kept switching back to the menu each time it skipped. I also tried in on my Apex 5131 with no problems at all. I have read in other posts that people really like this media. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Thanks.

Hey, what do you use to author your DVD's, or do you just do 1:1 copies? The reason I ask is that I too have a Sony DVP-S300 and the only DVDr's that work on it are 1:1 copies...if I have to rip and re-author they won't play on my Sony stand-alone, but they do play on my Sampo stand-alone, my Xbox and my PS2. I think it may have something to do with the way Spruceup and Prassi make the disc. Please let me know your process. Thanks!

Sure no prob. I use Trilight's method (http://www.trilight.com/guide/) which is a combo of CCE + Maestro. Check it out, it's great for single PGC movies. Now I have to find out how to convert a mulitple PGC movie into a single PGC movie so that it plays back fine. Anyone wanna take this one?

I'm a newbie, what's a single PGC title, and what's a multiple PGC title?

Ok, a single PGC is a single ProGram Chain is one concurrent playback item, i.e. the main movie would be one. A multiple PGC is where there is more than 1 PGC, i.e. the main movie, a warning, etc. My problem now is to find out how to convert a multiple PGC movie to a single PGC movie with the main menu and 1 audio stream.

Are your sure that they are ritek discs.
What does adinfo say about the discs ?
I'm using Ritek discs (adinfo= Ritek G03) and i don't have any
problem at all on my Sony standalone DVD player.
I rip with smartripper and strip with Ifoedit and burn with Nero 5580. I do not re-author however. Never had any problems...

For multiple PGC I use scenarist, re authoring a multiple PGC project with re-encoded or not m2v and audio stream wanted, no menus.
Then use Ifoupdate on every PGC's Ifo.
Works like a charm.

@John Miller
Yep, I'm sure that they are ritek dvd-r's, adinfo gives me the same thing under OE, Ritek G03. I am using a kind of older Sony, its the Sony DVP-S330, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

The sony i'm using is also almost 3 years old, but it is another type then yours. I don't think that has got much to do with it, certainly if you haven't had any probs with other DVD-R media.
Perhaps you should try burning a full disc, but not re-author (only using IFO edit to strip the size). This way you can deceide if its the re-author step that is doing it or not.
Or even better: use a Pioneer DVD-RW that you are sure of functions without any problem in your sony and burn the same files to the Pioneer-RW and check if you are having the same problem. If so, it's the re-authoring that is going wrong. If the Pioneer plays ok, then the Ritek media are the problem....

The problem with a dvd-rw is that they don't play at all in my Sony, so that step is out. I will try to find a movie that is under 4.37 GB and do a 1:1 copy and see if it plays ok on the ritek dvd-r.
