When I tried media from CDrecordables.com, I had one disk after the other come out with freezing, pixalation, ect. I had about 3 DVD's come out and play ok all the way through the movie. I recently went to watch one, now 2 months later, and it would not play at all. The pixalation and freezing was so bad the disk was unplayable. I put it in my computer to play it and the same thing happened. So I tried the other 2 that played ok before and guess what? they won't play now either. I have been a member of this forum for a hell of a long time and i'm not joking about this. How these DVD's "changed" during that 2 months I don't know, but it happened. So this is another thing that has only happened with cheap media, but its true and I just can't explain it. Did the dye fade or change somehow? These disks were stored in DVD cases with the rest of my DVD collection.

Commander,
Yup, it's possible you just got crappy media from CDrecordable.com. But I wouldn't catagorize all 'inexpensive' media as crap. I too have been burning to 'inexpensive' media for over 6 months. I've put many DVD's into players after that period of time, no problems.
So, I might suggest, that your experience is unique to the particular brand of media you were using. That's part of the reason I stopped using their media, it appeared to be poorly constructed. There may be other brands of media that will exhibit the problem you described. So far, the media I have been using has not exhibited that problem.
I could have sworn that many months ago, you were telling us your horrible experience with cheap media and you would never, never use it again....did something change?

No after my cdrecordable nightmare I have never bought cheap media again, these were the only disks from cdrecordable that did work, but like I say now they don't play either. I just thought that once a DVD was burned and played ok you were all set, but I was wrong cause these disks now no longer play after just setting around a while. I've never heard of a DVDR playing ok then after a few months falling apart and not playing anymore, the only thing I can figure is its something in the dye

Sad to hear this, Commander XJL. A user on another forum reported the same thing as you, with cheap Princo media bought in germany. I am currently using Princos. I hope this nightmare wont happen to me.

Well I guess the simple moral if the story is that if your work matters a damn to you, then it's worth 'insuring' your efforts with the premium of higher-quality disks. Besides, they're coming down in price all the time:

How do you tell cheap media from low priced quailty media? Is there a list somewhere telling what brand of media is considered "Quality"? I just got a 50 pack from Meritline. Hope I didnt screw up. I have used most of the 25 pack I had gotten from them already and had no trouble yet. I know Pioneer media is suposed to be real good as well as Apple I think. Any others?
thanks

I was wondering if you could tell us what ADVDinfo says about the CDRecordables that went bad. I ordered some from them back in January, had some issues and those were all stamped "PLASMO." The discs I've looked at that have come from their recently look identical and are marked "REC001." The newer ones seem to perform a lot better.
