post ur pc specs and ur movie specs.A not so powerful pc could cause such a problem. Also try the ffdshow for playing back ur movies as it is more light than the others decoders

It can be the PC, 1GHz was never enough for such high resolutions combined with AC3 audio!
You may set the post processing level to MIN and deactivate FILM EFFECT.
If that doesn't help, you have muxed audio & video the wrong way. Use 96ms Preload & 96ms Interleave.

Why 96ms and not something else? Is there something about that number? ;)

I always use 160ms/160ms and it works fine!

One of the things I don't understand yet. I always take the default: preload 500 ms & 1 frame interleave and have no problems with that. Can I better choose something else?

For mp3 the default works fine, but not for AC3. At least for me.

What works the least good is if you accidentally set the interleave to 160 frames instead of 160 ms ;)

What happens in that case, is your video stuttering? I guess the lower the value (xx ms interleave) the faster you processor must be? I have a 1.2 (133 MHz) GHz athlon.

If the values "don't like each other" it may only be a slightly annoying un-smooth video movement in some scenes, but it can also be a real heavy stuttering for audio and video (that is the case for 160ms preload and 160 FRAMES interleaving ;)).

I haven't tried too many other values than 160ms/160ms - I think I tried 64ms/64ms once with my old SB live value, and it was almost the same as with default (not really smooth video movement).

I have a T-Bird 1500 (1400@150x10) with 512MB DDR Ram (150/300MHz, CAS 2-2-6-2), AMD761 chipset (Epox 8K7A+ Board). My soundcard is a Philips Acoustic Edge (PSC-706)
