Yes, i - like anybody else - don't know this for sure but i would think DivX 5.xx _atm_ is most used.
But if u are talking about already encoded material, then i believe DivX 3.xx is the winner, there are lots of (illegal) movies in the net that are encoded with 3.xx

The movie groups only release in Divx 3.11 alpha encoded with Nandub, or in XviD (but there are not many XviD files around yet).
However, Divx3.11 doesn't have a future, it's only still a standard for the movie groups (they will also use something else soon, I guess)

XviD may be better than Divx5, but it is still in alpha stage and it's an open source project, so I (and many others, I guess) still wait and don't use it yet. As soon as it will be as established as i.e. LAME (the mp3 encoder), maybe it will be the best (like Lame for mp3).

Divx4 shouldn't be used anymore because it is the old version of Divx5 (and it's worse than the rest).

Divx5 is right now the most finished product, it supports b-frames (20% better compression compared to Divx4) and it produces good quality videos. The pro version has some nice additional features (b-frames, good filters, psychovisual modeling). I like it best at the moment.

I think Divx5 is the most used codec at the moment (except for the aforementioned release groups)

I still use DivX3.11

DivX 5 decoding is WAY too slow. Older computers can't handle it.
