Thanks for a great encoder.

It encoder it to same as dvd qualtie.
When I use to play Divx movies I am usigng sigma designs hardware decoder the x-crad. It lock like same as dvd qualtie, if your sett everyting right in the xvid encoder. The DivX5 does not even come close that with same file size :)

But when I play same Divx with a software decoder Divx5 or ffdshow. The qualtie are not same as the x-card has ?

I am using follow setting to achive dvd qualtie with the x-card with res 352x288. Have not yet test with higher res. I using the lates built from 27/07-2002

Thanks for the information. 352x288 is very small so I'm suprised you compare it to DVD quality.

Is the X-Card actually doing hardware scaling during playback and thats why the rip looks so nice at fullscreen? Your sharpness was retained at that resolution also? Sorry for all the questions but very curious how the X-Card works:)

I do not exaly all info how the x-card working

here are the info I know.
It can handle a max res of 720x576 to the tv

Build in hardware scale.

I can not see any driffet when i sittdown and lock at the movies i create and the dvd one. But if stand 1cm from my tv, I can see very small driffet.

I am doing now a full scale dvdrip it will take time for my p3 800mhz

Well you should try max bitrate 10000(is the card can handle it)..With 4000 max you push the codec too much :)...

Hope this helps,

I did found the hardware specify

Video prosseing in the hardware
(em857x chip specify, x-card are using em8575)

Brightness, color, contrast controlls
Advanced scaling up to 1920x1080 pixel
Interlaced or non-interlaced output up to 120 hz

I will try it MoonWalker

From sigma designs web page faq

"What resolutions and bit rates does the REALmagic Xcard support?
The x-card can max handle 720x576 at 30fps, with a maximum bit rate of 15Mbps."

Also try raising you resolution 352x288 is too small..try 512xyyy for 1-cd rip or 640xyy for 2-cd(these are relative values, don't take them as a rule :) )...

I am using always 352x288 to see what a codecc goes for. and it more quckly to find out how good the reslut can be. When I like a reslut I
run full dvd res. to see what reslut.

Before I did use DivX5 with b-frame with full dvd res.
test mode 352x288.

I will use a higher res later :)
