View Full Version : MPEG2 (SVCD) file with subtitles in WMP or ZOOMPLAYER

Hi.

I've just encoded for the first time
subtitles to one of mymusic clips mpeg2
files using Subrip and WinSubMux.
It worked perfectly at encoding and the
file is a bit larger than original as expected
because the bitmaps encoded.

But when playing this file with WMP, or even
with ZoomPlayer with my filters selection,
I only get some short stops at the moments
where the subtitles should appear.

What is going wrong? Wrong filters?

Thanks

NO software player can play back the SVCD-Subs.
Definitively up to today!
Only stand-alone DVD-Player can play that back.

try this(if it is util for you)

install dvobsub
install canopus procoder

open the movie(avi,divx...etc)in canopus,
then dvobsub open automatical(write this way?)
your subtitle.(see the green arrow next of clock)
select svcd....etc.
in the encode tab you will see
your movie be encoded WITH subtitles.
-------------------------------------

problem:
canopus with a "crack",
encodes only 5 minuts(maybe 6 mins).

sugestion:
select in canopus 5 minuts of movie(parts)then encode it.
example:
00:00 to 05:00 (save movie 01)
after this first encode...select:
05:01 to 10:00 (save movie 02)
10:01 to...etc.

or please get the patch or crack of canopus
and post it in the forum.
(ask the moderator if it can be post...i'm new here, and don't know)

canopus has exelent quality result....bye
only try to help

;) ;)

ps:
sorry for my poor english,ok? :D

I think you make a joke, or you are such a beginner who have to have to learn much, much more before you can advise someone.

That is not a alternative(for playing back SVCD with switchable subs). You havn´t understood the question. Sorry!

no i did not mean that.
i ment that even if someone makes a mistake (i.e. jorel) and thinks he's not a newbie, while he is a newbie in this specific area of discussion, there's no need to start getting aggressive about that.

keeping the discussion polite and civilized (everyone can only do that for himself) has never done any harm, and usually, the contrary is correct.

cheers

@htc10825
why don't you post here a tutorial to
"MPEG2 (SVCD) file with subtitles in WMP or ZOOMPLAYER"
if you are so wise?
this is the question...help bugeyes!

@avih

how can i unsubs with this forum, please?
i don't want to come back here anymore.
thanks!

i think that htc10825 has personal problems
and use your "wise" to boring some people here,
(see others posts from him)
and not to guide someone.he's choice is attack
who he thinks is wrong with your own vision.
of course,he see what he wants to see.
he's not a anonimous friend and teacher
just like the other members in the forum.
or this is not a idea from the forum?
help each other.

and again:
how can i unsubs with this forum, please?
i don't want to come back here anymore.
thanks!

Hi Jorel & htc10825

I'm becoming to feel guilty as the "beguinner" of this
discussion.

We are all in this forum to learn!

I recorded an experimental SVCD (CD-RW) to try to see
the subtitles of my mpeg2 file on my APEX-AD660 standalone
player. And I did not get it. So, to learn a bit more I ask:

-All standalone's firmware are capable of reading encoded
subtitles mpeg2?

-Wich standalone function is expected to show the subtitles?

Thanks for the help.

PS: I thought I was to old because in 1983 I did some programs
in 6522 assembler to my commodore 64. I feel more confortablle
now.

bugeyes....

"-All standalone's firmware are capable of reading encoded
subtitles mpeg2?"

No definitely not. Players that support soft encoded subs are definitely in the minority. Also realize that there are two subtitle formats, SVCD style and CVD style. CVD is actually more widely supported and I believe that this is the format all Apex's use. My Apex AD600a plays CVD style subs created in SubMux, WinSubMux, and I-Author (it can only create CVD style subs,)but it does not play SVCD style subs. I believe most dvd players that support subs support one or the other format, but generally not both. Also make sure you set Subrip to rip in 8bit bitmaps not 4.

"-Wich standalone function is expected to show the subtitles?"

I dont understand your question. All standalone dvd players obviously have the ability to display overlayed graphical images. Whether or not they can do this in a SVCD is a firmware issue and inclusion of this function is done at the descretion of the Hardware Manufacturer.

@Jorel: You still don't understand bugeye's question. He is not encoding subs he is trying to PLAY them through software and as of yet, this cannot be done in a SVCD...period! Also he is not even hard encoding subs he is SOFT encoding them. The software you suggested cannot even do this. You misunderstood, no harm no foul...but hopefully you understand now so no more posts of this nature ok? :)

yes i understood bugeyes,we are of the same country and
changing posts(comunication) in our language!

and:

yes , the software that i suggested can do this!!!!!
i have four movies downloaded from net,
and put in them the subtitles
i think that you dont know canopus???!!!

and i was write this:
alternative!!!!!!

anyone that knows canopus was waiting for
a full version(cracked).......its here!in this tread!
if someone dont want to use with my simple `alternative`,
use this prog for other results....its very good!

and this is the title of the thread:
MPEG2 (SVCD) file with subtitles in WMP or ZOOMPLAYER

with my alternative i write:
try this(if it is util for you)

and you get permanent subtitle in mpeg2 files
that can be view in:
dvd players,wmp zoomplayer,etc...
and all the dvd players that cant show the subtitles,
use canopus and dvobsub to encode your movie and
get permanent subtitles.

ps:if its not the solution for bugeyes
is the solution to all that want to see
permanent subs in svcds,right?

;)

ps 2: very simple way:
use
powerdvd subtitle player,
it shows subs in powerdvd....i knew it yesterday!
freeware!

bugeyes, I assume you have subtitle in WinSubMux or SubMux format,
ie a sub file and a lot of bmp files. If you are using vcdimager
to product SVCD image, you have to mux the subtitles with SVCD subtitle
format. If you are using new vcdxbuild and vcdxgen, the you have to mux
the subtitles with CVD subtitle format. I didn't try nero, since it
still produce wrong time information to hardware player like APEX.
