Hi all

I have a NTSC R1 DVD I am trying to rip

THE STAND

it is a DVD18 (dual layered dual sided disc)

The movie is in 4 parts (2 on each side)

Each part has its own vob files

I ripped the 1st part no problems
I did it as PAL, Every other Pal de-interlacing, and with 2 audio tracks.

I tried ripping the second set of VOB files with the same settings but the movie is about 1 second behind the audio.

The DVD plays fine but the rip doesn't

Before you ask, there isn't a chapter at the beginning or at the end that is very short I can disable when ripping. The 1st chapter is 3mins and the last is around 5 mins.

thebigbeef@hotmail.com

I tried the following

Rip 2
NTSC
NO De-interlaced
SAME RESULT

Rip 3
PAL
No De-interlace
SAME RESULT

Rip 4
PAL
Every Other PAL De-interlace
Changed MOVIE OFFSET to 0
SAME RESULT

Rip 5
PAL
Every Other PAL De-Interlace
Changed MOVIE OFFSET to 4
SAME RESULT

Rip 6
Ripped with VSTRIP instead of INTERNAL Routines
PAL
Every Other PAL De-Interlaced
Movie Offset 2 (default)
SAME RESULT

here are my logs below

usually internal routines works for me and the zero chapter solves the audio synch issues.

I remember doing rudolph misfit island and the audio didn't start till like 15 secs after the video kicked in. No way I could solve the audio synch issue. What I ended up doing was not ripping the first chapter (missed just credits and a song) and everything was fine. I suppose I could've screwed around with the advanced bbmpeg audio delay settings but didn't have it in me for a kids flick.

Changed MOVIE OFFSET to 4
that only is (I believe) say it plays just fine and dandy on windvd or powerdvd and your hardware dvd player is getting it outta synch. It fixes that problem only. If you wish to actually delay audio or whatever you need to look at the advanced bbmpeg audio startup delay settings.

Have you tried to remove the Title picture.
On some players it makes the audio and video to be out of sync.
It is possible to adjust the Startup Delay in bbMPEG Advanced settings so you resync video and audio. But this makes the disk to be out of sync on other player.

I just started on Episode 2 and found the same audio sync problems. I managed to fix it by taking AC3 Delay Correcter and setting the delay to -1300ms on the ripped AC3 track.

I haven't started on Episodes 3 or 4 so I don't know if they are also out of sync and what the delay should be if they are.

I made an authoring "guide" for this movie over in the Authoring Forum. I don't know anything about SVCD but you may find it helpful.
