View Full Version : DVD2SVCD stops at bbMPEG

Hi all,

I'm trying to convert a DVD ripped to harddisk to SVCD. All goes well until approx. 55% in bbMPEG. This seems to be just after/at the end of the 1st CD. Should I click do something then, coz waiting does nothing. Or is this just a bug?

TIA,

Durkos

Hi Durkos,

and welcome to the forum. :)

But I must say that this smiley is only there as I'm a friendly person in general and is meant for the welcome - I wish I could have used it to say: "Hey, someone did read the Q&A and the other stickies above!" - But you sure did not - otherwise you would have known "how to post a question" and what kind of information we need to help you. ;)

So :readfaq: and :logfile:

Greetings,
Gerti

Well Gerti,

Thanks for the 'warm' welcome . I did read al the stuff you mentioned but the 1st time I wanted to post, I had to wait 5 days after registering to this forum. This makes log files and thinking of all rules go away :p. But I guess I have to run the 12 hour process again then. Be back in a few days.

Ok, started the process all over again and bbmpeg stopped at 55% again. It's not crashed coz I can still use the Suspend button. Below is a copy of the dvd2svcd logfile. The last line of bbmpeg states: Multiplexing file c:\program files\dvd2svcd\movie\bbmpeg_muxed_file00.mpg. This file is 830.081.672 bytes now

My system is a Win XP on a PIII 667 Mhz.

Also I would like to know if it's possible to resume from here or do it manualy.

Thanx

Durkos

Hmm,

I can't see anything wrong within the logfile. You can do a "Recover" from within the "Misc." tab by hitting the button and load the *.d2s file and continue from the "Muxing and cutting" step again.

The only problem I see is that Windows is known to behave strangely when there's only little space left on the hard drive and 2 GB isn't that much when doing a conversion and windows has to do it's normal job swapping files and holding some files in the recycle bin and so on and from my own experience a heavy fragmented hard drive can also cause bbMPEG to behave strangely.

So try to free up some space, defragment your HD and do a "Recover".

Hope this helps,
Gerti

Nope, this didn't work. I now have 6634 Kb free and defragmented the disk. The bbmpeg process stops at exactly the same point.

Hmm,

I must say that there's very little left to try out. What I now can see - did you use the "Internal routines" for the ripping step? If not, use them. If so, try to use vStrip but Shrek works perfectly with the "Internal routines". And with Shrek don't use the "Anti noise filter" and try to set the "Luminance offset" to "5" in "DVD2AVI" tab. And see Q60 for more - have you already tried to use the MPEG2DEC2.DLL instead of the MPEG2DEC.DLL and try to encode again?

I know it's a pain in the a...rm to find the error but this movie worked 100% ok for me.

Greetz,
Gerti

P.S. Do you have these problems also with other DVDs?

Hi
ive got exactly te same problem with Shrek. Done the search thing (been around since Nandub 0.19, some probs but always found answer in this magnificent institution!)and now i felt the need to post.
Tried MPEG2DEC2.DLL, changed CCE 2.5 with 2.62 and 2.64, no antinoise, with antinoise, no SVCD offsets, re-rip... i think ive changed everything i could without screwing the basis.
The results are always the same, bbmpeg stops at 82% and stays there.

Discovered one thing, looking at AviSynth_Script_file.avs almost at the end (maybe 82%) the subtitles arent there (used the permanent option)
Any clue?

Hi,

Maybe the answer in the following thread will help, at least for the BBMpeg error.

i only get bbmpeg window with "suspend" button active. Theres no error report. The freezing happens on the second multiplexing file.
