Hi,
Is there a good way to work out what the bitrate should be for CCE. i know there is a MIN and a MAX setting and basically i can fit any amount of film onto a DVDR if i make the bitrate low enough (obviously the quality will suffer).

According to http://www.vcdhelp.com/calc.htm my 127Min Film has a average bitrate of 4613 and a max of 9378, so what do i need to put into CCE. I guessed 9378 as a max and i tried 2000 as a min but the resulting file was too big to fit on a DVDR. After more than one attempt (reducing the MAX as we go) I tried 7000 as the max and it fit...but theres got to be a better way than trial and error.

Please read the following .http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce-advanced.htm

Also, keep in mind that during the second encoding pass, when you click on advanced you will see the actual size of the future video file.

Global settings for the video file:

Max - 9000
Min - 0
Avg - will depent on the movie, you should make it as big as you can afford to put on the disk, and precisely this setting is the one, most responsible for the final size of the file.

Again please read the guide
