Hi
Anyone to help me with this?
I have a lot of photos, and I know it is possible but I don't know how to make a vcd or svcd with the photos and some music to get a slide show.
Thanks

Hi rjcf,
erm, seems you are in the wrong forum as this one belongs to the DVD2SVCD package.
What you are planning to do can be done with Roxio's WinOnCD pretty easy. But to let you get more answers I moved it to the SVCD forum.
Greetings,

Ulead DVD PictureShow only $29.95. I've created a ton (probably over 15 or so vcds with slideshows). Many in my family have come over to scan in their photos and friends photos to make their own vcd picture slideshows.
VCDEasy I tried but didn't like the quality...theirs a new beta that's supposed to have better quality mpeg stills so who knows someday it might be a viable option.

Very simple if you use Nero 5.5.x.x. Here are the steps:
1. Start Nero, Close the Wizard.
2. On the NEW COMPILATION window left pane, scroll down and select VideoCD icon, this will bring up the VideoCD Tab.
3. Near the bottom of the screen there is a button "Store Source Picture In" you need to check this to create the PICTURE folder on your VCD.
4. Click "NEW" button, this will bring up the File Browser, the right pane should be your source pictures (.JPG), you can select individual pictures or folders and drag them to the left pane.
5. Nero will add these files on left pane, if you look at the upper left pane, you'll see Nero also automatically create all required files for VCD standard.
6. You'll notice on the left pane there's Track Numer, File Name,Duration, Pause and Size. The default of pause is infinite, you can change this by select all file and right click and property, change infinite to number of seconds if you want your slide show automatic.
7. Click File/Write CD.
That's all there is to it. Hope this'll answer your question.
I'm trying to have music to go along with the slide show, anybody has any suggestions?

Hi. I Just have made several SVCD photo CD's, and was experimenting with some programs to choose the easyest and most universal way to do it.
First of all i have tried ULEAD Video studio ( I know - this package is not for slide shows directly designed, but it has cool transition effects for videos and of course for photos) You may create slide show with music etc.It creates slide show as one mpeg file, so you can then FF/RW it while playing. Not easy way, it takes you a lot of time, but results are impressing. Good video filters can be used - for example, you can make colour photo change from B/W to full colour, or make lighttening effects. If you have installed Ulead DVD Movie Factory, the plugin is used to create and authorize SVCD. I repeat - nice, but not easy way ;)
Second my attempt was Ulead Picture Show. Easyer, designed for slide show, but only VCD(and worse quality of course) can be created
Third and the most universal for me - ULEAD DVD Workshop.WOW - great progie. Very user friendly and quick. You can make SVCD slide show( almost includig video files ) in one afternoon. Good menu templates, audio capability, Video capture, authorising and burning SVCD's functions in one package. I simply can recomend you to try it.
I also have tried to do slide shows with Nero and VCDeasy - a waste of time if compared with Ulead Movie Factory - trust me:D

i tried using the ulead dvd movie factory but won't accept jpg files since it asks for mpg files only to author vcds/svcds. how did you do it?
i only use dvd factory in authoring menus but not with slide shows.

Hi, beektor.
I don't make any slideshows with Ulead DVD Movie Factory.;)
ULEAD DVD WORKSHOP is the program i'm currently using for it. It accepts JPG files for slideshow pretty nice. You are right - Movie factory accepts only video sequences(MPG).

You will like it.
The only bad thing here - only VCD compability. But maybe some day ULEAD will upgrade it to SVCD. Or maybe you have DVD burner. If so - you can burn DVD slide shows with Picture Show...

vcd 2.0 is a better option then SVCD for s(vcd) picture slide shows.
Both support the same resolutions.
Second my attempt was Ulead Picture Show. Easyer, designed for slide show, but only VCD(and worse quality of course) can be created
what are you talking about...it's the best quality out of 5 or 6 programs I've tried.
http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/manuals/0.7/vcdimager.html
Video CD 2.0
* Support for MPEG segment play items (SPI), consisting of still pictures, motion pictures and/or audio (only) streams was added
n addition to the resolutions already defined for motion video, also high resolutions are available for still pictures, which are 704 x 480 (NTSC Full D-2) and 704 x 576 (PAL Full D-2)
the same high resolutions as defined for Video CD 2.0 apply for Super Video CD's
so you have ZERO advantage going to SVCD 1.0 instead of VCD 1.0 concering still image slideshows. With VCD 2.0 you gain more compatibility out there with dvd players.

OK, mrbass. I know it. But all SVCD slide shows i have made with the same photos (not depends Nero or DVD Workshop ) looked much more crisp than Ulead PictureShow VCD slide show. I think it's because MPEG2 instead of MPEG1. I have also tried making VCD slide show with Ulead DVD workshop - the same "not crisp" results.
Haven't you discovered it?
