I am having troubles with the evaluation version of tmpgenc.
When I try to convert a AVI over the a basic ntsc mpg no frills
mpeg for vcd the program locls up the computer eventually.
The last one got 60% through. I came back and found it just
sitting there. (let it go for nine hours shile I was away
etc...
Here are the system specs.
Pentium 3, 512 megs of Kingston ram. Abit BX 133 Raid Board.
I am using the connections in a non raid form.
Primary Mobo Connector master
40 gig - Drive C: Partitioned 5g
Drive D: Extended 35g
(I forget the drive letters where they are assigne by windows so)
16x - DVD Drive
24x - Plextwriter Master
8x - Mitsumi cdrw (Plextor wont write to my old 2x cdrws so..)
Primary Raid Connector master/slave
40 gig - Drive E: Extended Partition (all 40 as one drive letter)
80 gig - Drive F: Extended Partition (all 80 as one drive letter)
(bought the drive for capping purposes some day)
Video card is a ATI All In Wonder Radeon 32meg DDR, being used
as a video card only at this time. So on the video drivers are
installed and not the multimedia center stuff.
I have tried reading from the hard drives connected to the raid
controller and writing to the C: drive in a work directory. Still
can not get a good session to complete.
Below are some programs I have installed in case any one knows
about software conflicts with tmpgenc I have included a list
below. Oh the last re-install of W98SE was about one month ago
with a complete reformat of the boot drive and a redownload of
most software to do as much as I could to have a clean system.
OS : Win98 se OEM - Also DirectX 8.1
MS : I went to the MS site and made sure all drivers and what have
you are updated.
Motherboard : ABIT BX 133 Raid
CPU : P3 1-ig proc.
Ram 512 megs Kingston brand purchased from Office Max.
Programs Installed and paid for are :
Nortons Pro 2002
Adsubtract Pro
Zone Alarm Pro
Newsbin Pro 4.0
Nero 5
Evaluation Programs installed are Winrar, Tmpgeng, WinAmp,
VirtualDUB.
For DivX drivers I have the lastest free version installed as
well as DivX 3.1a.
I have tried reading from E: and F: and writing to drive C:
but TmpGenc either locks up the computer or stalls. If it stalls
I have to ctrl+alt+del my way out and reboot the system.
I am not blaming tmpgenc at all. I am trying to problem solve
thats all...
The same tmpgenc works fine on the other family PC but I need/wish it to also run on the one gig machine.
Thanks to all for your patience if I bored you to tears here....
