I'm encoding with Xvid/ogg & if I play from the CD it skips, can anyone explain to me why?, I'm not using XCD nor 2CD sets, so far the 4of4 movies I've encoded skip, could this be Nero?

hi - i can't exactly say why the skipping is occuring other than it sounds like some problem with either your OS configuration, your IDE subsytem configuration ( if ur IDE equipped ) or ( unlikely i would think ) your cdrom drive. all i can really think of is check that your IDE properties are set to DMA if available. perhaps hunt around for some software that enables u to set the cache size for the cd drive. there are plenty around for win9x, i couldn't find anything worthwhile for 2000/xp when i searched a while back. im really no expert when it comes to diagnosing problems like this, but try editing your post and include some more details such as OS and hardware brand/spec/model.
however i can say that it sounds unlikely that it would be burning in nero that is causing the problem.

What about that DMA-transfer, is it enabled?
Allso try a different player, BSPlayer works just great for me (DivX5/Vorbis sound, ogg media container). Exept i use CDRomTool to lower my CD-drive speed down to 16x so it's completely silent and won't strain the drive so much.

I used NERO drive speed to lower the speed of my drives, all is fine now, thank you.
