@dvd2svcd:

I tested "dvd2svcd 1.1.0 build 1 Pre 22" if subtitles stay in screen longer than they should. I ripped 2 chapters of the test movie and selected 3 subtitle languages in SVCD mode. And I found a bug. The last subtitle stays on the screen with 2 languages out of 3.

I checked *.sub files and found different timing for each language (last subtitle):
Subtitle 1: 00:06:45,16 --> 01:59:58,00
Subtitle 2: 00:06:45,16 --> 00:06:46,31
Subtitle 3: 00:06:45,16 --> 01:59:58,00

Only subtitle language 2 has correct timing. The test clip was 7 mins and 5 secs long.

The other subtitles which were problematic with earlier dvd2svcd versions were almost fine. At least they didn't stay on the screen longer than they should. One subtitle showed only white blinking box but I think that it was max bitrate problem.

How much bitrate subtitles use? How much should I lower max bitrate per subtitle language?

The other problem is cosmetic. With earlier versions of dvd2svcd subtitles were on the black bar at the bottom of the screen. But with "1.1.0 b1 pre 22" the subs are on the movie (covering the movie). Can You make them appear at the bottom of the screen again (on the black bar)?

BTW! Submux works better than WinSubMux. If submux gave me white blinking box then next subtitle was fine but if I tried Winsubmux then that subtitle stayed on the screen blinking until the end of test clip. I have Philips 752 with the latest firmware.

I will continue testing subs.

With best wishes,
Juhan

Weird, because Lecture has just confirmed that infact the pre release works:

@dvd2svcd:

Yes, it works but only the last subtitle timing is problematic. The other subtitles before the last one worked fine. Only 2 languages had problem (there were 3 languages total). You solved the main problem with subtitles staying longer on the screen but there seems to be a minor bug with last timing. If the clip is 7 minutes long then last subtitle cannot end with 01:59:58,00 (1 hour and 59 minutes). Maybe this is the value for the very last sub in the whole movie. Total movie playing time was 02:02:40.

You are probably right abot that. I'll look into it.
