Hi @ll!

I discovered a strange problem and maybe one of you might help me out of it...:

Recently I installed the 1.0.9 Build 3 of DVD2SVCD (completely uninstalling 1.0.9 Build 2). Yesterday I tried to convert 3 DVDs all with the same result:
When looking at the result at seems like a complete black movie with every now and then showing up some light spots (colours blue and green). Looking like a problem with contrast and brightness
I double-checked it with the preview option and switched to different frames. The same! The options haven't been modified by myself so they are standard...

After uninstalling Build 3 and reinstalling Build 2 everything is okay again.

Any idea what might cause this?

Check out the luminance values in the dvd2avi tab, are they both 0 ?

Hi DVD2SVCD,

uninstalled Build 2 and reinstalled Build 3: the problem is gone.
I will keep your hint in mind the next time this problem might appear.

Thanks in advise.

Iīm experiencing the opposite of this problem:

The last 3 Conversions i made (avi-source) were all too bright, but i didnīt change the luminance settings at all...
Even the black-borders, when converting a 16:9-Movie to 4:3 with added black borders, are not black but rather grey.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you want finer control over the brightness and contrast check out the Tweak filter by Donald Graft.
You can find much info on this in the avisynth forum.

I used to use it all the time until I stopped doing SVCD encodes and now only do unfiltered DVD - DVD encodes.
