Hi all,

In the hopes that I've read all the FAQ's correctly, and that I've correctly searched the forums for an answer, I'm gonna post this question. Hopefully, I haven't missed an obvious answer in these fine forums, and the mods won't yell at me:p:p

When I try to rip Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter DVD, DVD2SVCD always stops once DVD2AVI is initialized. It will sit there for hours not doing anything. The DVD2AVI window shows no activity. This is not a freeze or a lock up, it just sits there.

DVD2SVCD and its related programs seem to be working fine. I rip a DVD about every 7-10 days, and this Gimme Shelter DVD is the only one that hasn't worked.

One clue as to the problem showed up when I decided to try to rip the DVD using SmartRipper, instead of the internal routines. I noted that in the video info window of SmartRipper, the video compression was listed as MPEG-1, instead of MPEG-2 on every other DVD I tested. Hmmmm.... (Using these ripped files didn't help, by the way)

Does anyone have any clues as to how I can proceed? I suspect that the MPEG-1 video compression is the problem here... I would certainly like to have a nice backup copy of this DVD, so any help would be appreciated.

I've posted my log file below, in hopes that it will be of some assistance.

Thanx in advance....Bikertrash

I'd try these things:

a) remove the commas from the directory in which u keep ur .vob filez
b) try ripping the DVD using vStrip instead of internal routines
c) still no luck, try using smartripper

Give it a try and post ur results.

Great call, pepsimaxx!!:D:D:D:D It was the comma's in the directory name that prevented DVD2AVI from running. DVD2AVI is running now, so it's past that bottleneck. Damned if I shoulda been able to spot that, it was a pretty elementary mistake on my part, eh?

Thanx again, I'm glad your sharp eyes caught that one!!
