View Full Version : What is causing this Warning to come up?

Been practicing with IfoEdit the past week and a half. I've ripped about 6 different movies and preparing them for back up. After ripping all files, I press DVD player in IfoEdit and get this warning...'No Valid DVD Volume could be found. Do You Want to continue?"

I click 'yes', and movie plays fine. After I prepare the files for back up...ie strip, split or whatever, I close IfoEdit. Then reopen IFO file, 'Get VTS sectors' and save.

I then press the DVD player in IfoEdit and get the same Warning. After I click 'yes', the movie plays exactly the way I set it up , with Menus, Chapters, Audio, subtitles....all doing what they are suppose to do. I just get that Warning before the movie plays in the IfoEdit DVD player.

What am I doing wrong. Or does that warning just keep comming up. Does this mean if I burn the file to DVD-R, it will not play in a standalone? Are you guys getting this Warning? How do you fix it?

I get that warning too. I think I remember reading that this should happen but I cant remember why(I could be wrong though). But it happens with my files and they still record just fine so I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks for the reply. So you also get this warning....and have made sucessful back up to DVD-R.

Can anyone else confirm the warning:

'No Valid DVD volume can be located. Do you wish to continue?"

but working backups can and have been made even though this warning comes up.

I do not have a DVR recorder yet..so I am just getting use to using IfoEdit. Is it safe to assume that if the prepared files play in the IfoEdit DVD player just fine, that it is ready to burn....of course after 'Get VTS sectors' is done................Yes?

Yes I can make working backups even though that warning plays. However, just because it plays in IfoEdit doesnt mean that it will work in a standalone. It seems that standalones are pickier than your computer. But there is a pretty good chance that it will work. If it wont play in IfoEdit then you know you have a problem.

Yea...I know standalones are picky on DVR media.

What media seems to work for you and what burner are you using?

put ANY DVD in your drive and you'll see what it is for. so its useless i think.

jazzie,

I too have just started to get this "warning". (never uese to though) It has not caused me any problems.

Like you I choose to ignore it, and my final disc still burn OK, and still play OK in my standalone player.
