View Full Version : Big Trouble!!!! Smaller size of burning when spliting DVD-9

I have the strangest situation with several movies.

I haved followed the guide to split DVDs into two DVD-R, and I´ve been successful with most of them. But I have tried with some movies (most of them are Fox productions like 'Behind Enemy Lines' and 'Castaway', Vertical Limit is also one them) and here's what happens:

Once I have completed the proccess, I use RecordNow (which came with my Pioneer A04) to burn the first DVD (or the second one, it doesn't matter). But despite the burning software shows me the correct count of bytes when I start the burning process it only shows me that is gonna burn much less bytes  (for example if the movie is 4.1Gb it only burns 2.1Gb, or sometimes even 600Mb for saying something).

Also every time when this happens the burning software hangs in some point of the burning (specialy in the begging) and is closed by win2k, which is my OS (BTW).

Something peculiar about this movies, is the fact that most of them have RCE checking. And the IfoEdit 0.91 ask me if I want to remove it, the I say yes and choose 'region 1' (the same region of the movies) on the next pop-up.

Any clues? Suggestions? Is there something in the IFO files that I should correct for this movies?

Thanks!

PD: God bless Darrow for IfoEdit & the guy who code DVDDecrypter :) :)

jorisumu,

I ripped Behind Enemy Lines last night. I thought it would be very easy, it's only a DVD-5.

Used Smartripper, ripped all files.

Went to use Nero (latest version 5.5.9.0) for some reason it threw up an error message (can't remember exactly what it said) even before burning. Strange I thought, ripped it again (just to be sure, to be sure). Same problem.

So..... created an image of the rip (used Imgtool).

The used Ulead "Movie Factory" to burn the image.

Success, no problems, plays on standalone player as well as PC.

Can't explain it, but the RCE issue might be clue.

Anyway, problem solved. Bring on the next one ..........

Behind Enemy Lines a DVD-5?

mmmm... Don't remember the size really. I think I got the widescreen edition that is something like 7.2Gb. Anyway I decided to split it like every movie I've backed-up, since I love to keep the menus and all the extra stuff; so I never strip out the contents.

I'd like to get any other suggestion, but I'll try anyway!

thanks!
