Hello everybody for the first time!
I have successfully backed up my many DVD's until recently when I converted my OS to Windows XP Pro (from ME)and problems arised. Below is a log just doing one chapter from "Simon Birch" even though I have attempted to do three other full DVD movies and having the same problem.

Though none of the above, to my knowledge, won't help me as well as the Q&A.

So currently, I am using VCDEasy to complete my projects, which I wish I could have known to use before deleting the ones I had made above, grrr! But I am wondering when DVD2SVCD divides a movie into two mpg files for example) and it cuts the last chapter for the first CD, does VCDEasy successfully cuts the chapters on the right place for the second CD? I don't think it does. (I have already read the instructions on how to use VCDEasy from the guide). I also tried TSVC, and it doesn't work for me.

So what I am saying, I rather for DVD2SVCD to create my bin/cue files. It has done a beautiful job in the past and rather stick to it.

Hello flomboy,

and a warm welcome to the forum. :)

And I must say that your post wins the monthly award for the best first time post - well done. This is an outstanding example for everyone out there - so at least someone is reading the Q&A and knows how to use the search button. ;)

But I must admit, that this error is really weird - as you already found out yourself - and I don't have any ideas right now. But let's start with the *.xml file DVD2SVCD has created. It must be corrupt somehow or is getting corrupt on creation each time due to a yet unknown reason.

Do you have any background virus scanner running during the creation of the *.xml files? I think it might have something to do with one of the little XP "Gizmos" trying to make your life easier but as I still run Win2k I cannot say for sure.

So you can post your *.xml file DVD2SVCD has created and we can try to find some unusual lines in it. And as you are already using VCDEasy - did you already try to import and "Execute an (S)VCD XML file" within the "Tools" section of the program and use the one DVD2SVCD created for you with it? Does the error still occur then?

Greetings,
Gerti

P.S Here is your award:

Many thanks Gerti, I am completely flattered!:)
There are many posts here to realize that you'll get better results if you adhere to forum protocols.

I did a complete hard drive format before installing Win. XP Pro. Any anti-virus software I added/ran was done AFTER DVD2SVCD, and had problems back then. Currently, I am pretty sure that no virus scanner is running in the background. I am really tempted to convert back to Win ME if the problem persists, BUT only as a last resort.

Gerti, the only *.xml file created in the movie folder was "VCDXBuild_Script_1.xml". I did however tried your suggestion on executing that same xml file above within the "Tools" section of VCDEasy and it worked!

I just finish doing a complete "rip & convert" for Simon Birch using VCDXBuild, and for some reaason the whole process executed properly! I don't know why it happen but it did. The only thing I can think of what I did differently is that I forgot to add "change the cd pic" and adding movie & label title. I will do another movie right now to see if I can get the same results.
