editing avi's

I got everything to work !!!!!! but now I would like to know if there is a program that I can use to edit the avi's that I have just made so I can cut off some of the movie. Is this possible ? I only want to cut off a portion of the movie from a certain point onward.

theres no way just to view a compressed avi and lop off the ending (credits) and save it without compressing? this is because I have three movies with end credits (i didnt trim) but I want to use those they are all 709 and I am positive that it would be 700 if I cut the credits but I dont want to redo the 3 - 4 hours it took to compress it? is there a way????? :confused: :confused: :confused:

Just cut the end of using virtualdub and save the avi with both Video and Audio set to Direct Stream Copy, then there will be no recompress. One thing though, if the audio is VBR then you *must* use nandub.

you should read vdub manual.
but to make things short for u:

1. open your video file in vdub.
2. menu -> audio -> direct stream copy
3. menu -> video -> direct stream copy
4. press 'home' on the keyboard
5. move the slider at the bottom while control is pressed, then file tune with the next/prev keyframe icons at the bottom (the yellow key icons) untill you reach the target finish of the clip.
6. press 'end' on the keyboard
7. make sure you see the selected part of the clip in darker shade of grey.

8. file -> save as AVI -> select your NEW file name and press enter.

it should be done within few mins.

Thank you very much, I am not sure where the manuals are? included in the download ? sorry about this im on my first week of doing this so I am very new and get worried very easily, thank you for helping me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, assuming you used vbr mp3, use those exact same instructions with Nandub, not Virtual Dub.
