The DivX 5 guide says:
Going over 80% is a serious overkill and you should rather increase the resolution. Values in the range of 50-60% still look pretty good and 40-50 is still OK, especially when you activate B-frames.
Geez... it's probably a silly question but what are B frames?I've looked for it everywhere around and couldn't find it. Sorry if it's been already discussed...

other question regarding the DivX 5 guide...

It says "...Going above 80% is a...overkill and you should...increase the resolution." When I got a serious overkill like that I thought we were supposed to decrease it... I thought the lower the resolution is, the lower is the size of the movie. So if I decide lower the resolution. how am I suppose to do it? How does it work?

Thx in advance,

You've missed a Sticky link in the top of the DivX 5 Encoding forum. Click on GOP's: I, P, and B frames explained... (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19436)I thought the lower the resolution is, the lower is the size of the movie. So if I decide lower the resolution. how am I suppose to do it? How does it work??? I don't understand your question. Are you asking what a compressibility test measures, or are you asking how to drag a resolution slider within GKnot?

Sorry man, my english sometimes just gets confused...:p

Iīm actually asking why increase the resolution when we have an overkill. I thought we should decrease it.

And thx for the link. But Iīm still wondering where to activate it (B frames).Couldnīt find it on the DivX 5 guide... All I find around is "...activate B frames..." Where is it??

Thx for your attention,

As much as 80% means that the movie will compress *very* well with the current settings. If you then INcrease the resolution you will get more details and a better looking movie.
And the B-frames, they're only in the Pro-version and is called 'Use Bidirectional Encoding'.
