I have a problem that the first menu in a dvd I have produced in Maestro will not show the buttons until the audio has played through.
This menu is the first after the first play movie has finished.
After the 30 secs of audio have played the button pop up and every thing is OK
The audio is in ac3 format produced using soft encode.
Any suggestions ?
Also I seem to be suffering poor quality text (pixelated alot) on the button layer on Maestro
Thanks

Does your menu background look identical to the last frame of your first-play video track? It sounds to me like you are just having to watch your firstplay before the menu is displayed, although the DVD spec (USEFULLY!) allows the illusion to be created whereby the (untrained) eye has difficulty detecting the transition between the end of the first play and the initialisation of the menu, thereafter (assuming, as I said, that the static menu looks identical to the last first-play-video-frame from which the navigation jump occurred).
Please be more specific about the above, if it has not answered your question, and I'll do my best to work out what's going on! (it's not easy to guess this without actually seeing it for myself...)

the 'subpicture' layer is made up of 4 spot colours, and should really only contain basic info for higlighting objects on the background, which is why you arent getting much detail on it.

Are you sure you did not put a Loop on the video/audio of this menu, and set the loop point to 30 sec after the beginning ?
Because this is also the point where buttons are usable and Subpicture appears.
