Well, I've read some threads on subtitles before and I'm doing fine with 2 of them in my own DVD2SVCD projects so far.

Now I'm going for somethig new: I wanna translate some of my favourite Family Guy episodes and encode those with selectable subtitles in an SVCD to watch them with my friends.

Which would be the most convenient and fastest way to go? TIA for all suggestions!

Hi!

It sounds like a hudge task you are heading to.

I have never done this before myself, but because there is no reply to your post, here is some hints about how you could do it (for permanent subtitles).

You have to find a subtitle editor that allows you to write text and position them on timeline while you see your movie (google).

Then you have to start getting familiar with Avisynth, in order to see how you can use one of it's numerous plugin to insert subtitles. Using DVD2SVCD avisynth edit function, you'll have to modify standard script before encoding phase.

You may find interesting subtitle guides on doom9 or vcdhelp, that would not provide you with a straight solution to your need, but help you getting familiar with subtitling techniques. Browsing the web, you may find interesting threads in forum about subtitles.

Sorry, that's all I can do to help you. If nobody comes up later with a more ready-to-use answer, seek for information, build up your knowledge, and you'll be rewarded :). That's what internet is all about, and that's what we all love it, right?

Courage.

try usin textsub in the vobsub pack
with the DVD2SVCD avisynth edit
but that will only work for permanent subs
