I had Nero convert an avi file and everything worked but the video didn't quite fit the TV screen. Anyone know whats wrong?

most people here do not use nero to encode. You should try DVD2SVCD. Or learn a little about encoding and choose the programs that best suite your needs. In this way any movie will fit the screen. Sorry I can't be much help, but I'm guessing no one has ever actually used nero's encoding options in this forum.. or anywhere :(

I'm not taking from a DVD. It's an avi file. Heh. Nero does a good job but a tiny bit is cropped off on all sides.

Ummm ... did you watch your source avi on the TV? That "tiny bit" of cropping may be just due to your TV's inherent overscan ... PC screens don't have overscan, so could this account for the cropping you observe?

But is there anyway I can see it correctly on the TV when its playing in my DVD player?
I've tried having Nero encode and the TMPEG way; both ended in the same result.

Maybe this thread (and the one linked from it) can offer some hints: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29717 ... using an avisynth script the video is resized and borders are added to match your TV's overscan. Be aware that every TV set will have a slightly different overscan area ... alternatively, your TV might offer options to change its overscan area.

Doesn't matter - dvd2svcd will accept an avi file as input. This will also let you preview what it is going to look like.
