In this awesome guide, it takes a dvd-9 and creates a dvd-5 keeping everything ( a combo of CCE + Maestro). Here is my question: If all I want to do is keep the menus and main movie and the main movie is located in vts_01_x.vob, I'm fine. But if the main movie vobs are something else, i.e. vts_03_x.vob, do I have to rename them to vts_01_x.vob after Maestro has authored them? If I have to rename them, will the main menu still function correctly because now the main menu vobs are in the 1st set of vobs, instead of the 3rd set?

Now is the time for the real magic! The ability to incorporate your new files back into the original DVD structure so it will be just like the original with menus and all! The first thing we want to do, in this example, is rename our authored VOB files to VTS_02 instead of VTS_01. They are going to replace the VTS_02 files in the original. DO NOT copy over the authored IFO file! DO NOT copy over the VTS_01_0.VOB file! Remove all of the original VOB files (You MUST leave the IFO file and the VTS_02_0.VOB files!) and copy over the new ones in their place.
NOTE! If you do not understand the previous paragraph as it applies to this example, read it over and over and over again! If you do not do this right, it will not turn out properly! For those that get it, please move on. For those that don’t, I urge you to review more material here on the forum and re-read this tutorial!
You must rename your VOB's to whatever VTS set they are going to replace in the original file structure.

@Trilight
If I'm supposed to rename the vts set to whatever the main movie vob set is, how do I fix the problem of the menus? Whenever I select something from the main menu that has been ripped out, it stops or freezes. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

You could fish around through the command structure and see if you could isolate the particular command. Perhaps it's the player. Mine just jumps to the previous menu if it runs into something like that. Honestly, it's probably not worth your time. I mean, what did you strip out that you're afraid someone else is going to come along and try to select when they use your DVD?

@Trilight
You're probably right. The only set of vobs that I kept was the main movie vobs, all other sets were left out. So whatever was contained in those vobs and matched up to the menu selections, won't work.

I always wonder why people want to keep the menu when all they have on the disk is the main movie, I did it too for a while but then started to think it was stupid, I mean the purpose of a menu is so you can select between multiple things, if you only have one thing the menus don't seem worth the trouble to keep

Maybe they want them for the Chapter Selections.

What would be cool is if you could author a replacement dummy vob that replaces the removed vob. Possibly a bitmap that states "This option has been removed". Wouldn't it play the new vob then return back to the menu? Can this be done?

Nevermind. I found a helpful thread :)
