Compiling XviD

Just wanted to ask what are the requirents to compile XviD...
VC++?? SP?? DirectX SDK? other??

As far as I know you need Visual Studio 6 SP5 + processor Pack (or anything else that can compile), DirectX SDK, and the pthreads file (for the current SMP code).

I've only MSC++ SP4+PP/NASM. Not SP5 nor the DX SDK :(
So i'm unable to compile it.
And i can't even think of dl SP5 (180 Mb) or the DX SDK (80 Mb)
with my connection (6 hours ???)
I think i will use Linux :) to avoid M$ shit :rolleyes:

(The DX SDK is only for the DShow side anyway so you can get away with that whopping download)

but the SP5 one is worthwhile, gets rid of lots of compilation bugs & the code it produces is a lot faster.

Kinda OT but here goes, what is is required to get xvid to compile under VC++ 7.0 ?

You dont need the processor pack (Im pretty sure?) (and of course you obviously dont need SP5). However you will still need NASM & optional DirectX SDK (for the Dshow filter).

( BTW VC .net is just evil, evil I tells ya! :D )

Actually you might need the Pro pack for headers, anyway its only a small download.....

Just to let you know,

XviD compiles fine for me with VC++ 6 SP3 and NASM. No DX SDK needed and no processor pack for just the VFW codec or the core.

Ok, I see you in the logs. You're trying /alpha/sources.rar, it's /alpha/Sources.Rar. Case sensitive. Where did you get that link?

I tried Source.Rar, source.rar , SOURCE.RAR , ect..
because i KNOW it's case sensitive (i've the sames issues with my own site sometimes :( )

so i used Source.Rar too. in fact source.rar and other give me a 404 error BUT Source.Rar give me something like an empty text file !!
i used the link on alpha/alpha.html of course :)
and i've updated many times :D

and dl-it gives me a 1 byte file :(

Maybe I should change all the filenames so everything's in lowercase... at any rate, you can also PM me for the source :)

The problem opening the .dsw files is almost certainly the CR/LF problem I encountered a few weeks back. If you open the .dsw in notepad and the file looks funny (no CR/LF) then open it with wordpad and just save it.

Thats what I did and it fixed it up a treat.

Maybe your problem is that the file is Sources.Rar not Source.Rar??
