A funny thing happened to me on the way to the RIP
Video & Audio TS folders done & ready to roll.
Primo DVD will burn them if the Ifo files have not been messed around with - otherwise it errors when the disc is being set up. No problem, so I write it using VOB instant DVD/CD. This works on standalone but not for autostart on P.C.
When I write using Primo DVD 2 it works on Standalones + P.C.

Last night I was checking through the set up etc on PrimoDVD and found Tools / Options / Data Disc. Uncheck the option to Recognise DVD & format VIDEO_TS as per DVD Spec.

Now Video & Audio folders are not in red + ones that would not burn now burn and play O.K. in Standalones & P.C.'s

   WHY

This is how I will leave it but I'm interested to know if anyone has any sugestions.
Happy Ripping.

... this is how you screw up your DVD compilings by turning off conformity check. You luckely burned ONE DVD-R which luckily runs on YOUR SINGLE standalone...

happy screwing up, mike

P.S.
The conformity check of PrimoDVD is why most of the folks here use PrimoDVD and why PrimoDVD burns 99.9% running DVD-R.
If they don't auto-play on your PC, change your DVD Softplayer or turn on OSystem Autoplay functionality for DVD content or whatever is NOT in line with normal operation.
If an IfoEdit project won't burn with PrimoDVD than there's a good indication, that you might get trouble later on playing the content on a standalone DVD player. But's your choice.

Mikeathome,

The problem I have is that if I try to burn using PrimoDVD when I have used Ifoedit to modify the project it won't burn at all.
However it will burn without problems (and play O.K. on several DVD standalones + PS2) if I burn using VOB Instant CD/DVD.

If I uncheck This option on PrimoDVD it burns O.K.. I have done about 5 or 6 so far using this method and they have played on 2 standalones + 1 x PS2.

I am doing everything by the book Get VTS Sectors etc.(I've done maybe 50 in total) So I don't know why it won't work on PrimoDVD. Any ideas?

Constructive criticism is always welcome, after all we are just sharing our experiences are'nt we?

Hi,

PrimoDVD does a very strict observation of your DVD content. I'd IfoEdit projects which burned just like a charm with PrimoDVD as well but I'd quite a few where Primo did not accept them. You can be sure there is something not following the DVD Spec. when PrimoDVD does not accept it. Since the DVD Spec. became somewhat 'SOFT' these days and most of the players are rather handling a DVD like a PC your not 100% compatible compiles gets accepted by most of the players anyway.
This has been quite different the earlier days.

Foresure you can ignore (and overcome) the compatibility locks and may be lucky in 90% of the cases BUT don't ask why DVD-R XY does not play. Lock at Harry Potter Bonus Disk, even the big companies do mistakes and than they pay a more or less expensive bill..
