View Full Version : DVD2SVCD not creating compliant SVCD

Hi guys...

I have been a long time reader of this forum, and I have learnt so much from it. On this occasion however, the search button did not answer my question.

I have encoded a 4:3 PAL DVD into a VBR SVCD. All procedures complete successfully, but the .bin file created will not play in Power DVD (through daemon tools). Power DVD complains that it is a non-compliant stream (or something to that effect). I don't have a set-top player that plays SVCD's to really test it (I will have one soon) so I am not going to delete the source until I can get it to play successfully in Power DVD. I have created other SVCD's with DVD2SVCD (NTSC source) without error.

The muxed .mpg plays in Windows Media Player with a odd aspect ratio (the image is stretched vertically), which is to be expected for PAL output. This same file plays in Power DVD with the correct aspect ratio, also with correct stream information (mpeg-2 with VBR). When I compile this muxed file into an image using various tools, it refuses to play in Power DVD. Even humble Nero can't do it. I verified this by trying to extract the mpeg stream through Isobuster and VCD gear. Both failed.

What have I done wrong? I am stumped. Is a muxed mpg file that plays enough to ensure a SVCD compliant image? Any suggestions?

I encoded with Telecide de-interlacing. I can post any other relevant information about my encoding on request.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

I have been a long time reader of this forum, and I have learnt so much from it.But probably never read the FAQ, sticky threads, ... at the top of the forums. Otherwise, you would know what additional info to post ...

If this is your complete log, than there was an error, it never finished the image creation or at least it never reports back.
Try a CrahRecovery and watch if it finishes this time.
