View Full Version : Subtitle newbie question: Positioning

I have just finished encoding Amelie which looks great, save the subtitles in the final output file are positioned in the upper-left corner. The subs appear below-center when playing the DVD normally.
The positioning tool is a bit confusing insomuch that the red square is located dead-center, but yet the final subs are incorrect.
Please advise.
Thanks!

Hi-
I just did that movie last night (interesting movie) with no problem. One thing you should always do is use the GKnot preview or open the .avs in VDub-Nandub to make sure everything looks good before doing the encoding. I thought the subs were a little high, so I changed y to 50 in the red box, but otherwise everything was fine. Are you saying you chose the 00-English subs, both x and y were 0, the align sliders hadn't been touched, and they still wound up in the upper-left corner? If so, I can only suggest you rip them again. Another thing I did was put the VobSub line after Resize, but I don't see how that would make any difference.
Edit: I was thinking about something else. Open the .idx file and scroll down a bit until you see the Origin and Image Scaling lines. Make sure origin is 0,0 (or 0,50 in my case), and scale is 100%,100%. That may be the easiest way to fix it.
