Since Vorbis has gone gold now, it would really be great to have a oggDS filter that works with post-gain!
Has Tobias stopped work on OggDS?? There was no release since almost 3 months, means 1/4 of a year!!:(
I really hope that this is not the case.

I think that a new oggDS release will be available as soon as Tobias will have time to do it :)
Adding features like post gain is not so simple as it seems or as you thinks
So be patient, one day it will come ;)

PING!!
Just wanted to ping again.
Someone heard anything about Tobias??
Or did I miss that there is already a new OggDS with post-gain support, while i was on holidays??
Greetings

I update for me OggDS to Ogg Vorbis 1.0.
Download Ogg Vorbis 1.0 SDK and replace relevant files from OggDS 0.9.9.1. in window's system directory...
It speeding about 5%, quality is same.
I know, that Tobias is very busy, but simple update (see up) get about only 5 minutes his time!!!

Hey, I was wondering if that would solve that frame problem when playing DivX 5.02 + Ogg Vorbis. Does it?
Thanks ;)

I made the update last week, just checked, and it doesn't fix the problemn with divx 5.02 + ogg vorbis !

Don't worry, try it, you'll solve more than this Ogg movie problem ;)

Can Tobias update (urgently) OggDS to regular Ogg Vorbis 1.0?

You yourself presented a solution for using ogg 1.0, so why is the update so urgent.
I imagine he will do it when he gets to it (or when someone offers him $ to do it; whichever comes first).
Be patient, grasshopper, and good things will come your way.

If you want a bit more speed use the ICL6 compiles of the dlls (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/oggvorbis-dlls.zip) from Rarewares.

I'm really sorry but I had little time to work on the project the last months but I plan to release the next version this weekend.
The most important changes will be:
- Based on Vorbis 1.0
(BTW: I use Visual Studio .Net . The performance of the code produced by this version is the same as the intel compiler. I did some tests. The new version is statically linked, which means that the runtime library msvcr70.dll is not necessary anymore)
- Channel order for 6 channel playback and encoding should be fixed.
- Incompatibilities with WMP 9 fixed
- Post gain tag support
- Icon in the taskbar for choosing the language. This is for those who use a player which does not support IAMStreamSelect interface
- Some more bug fixes ...

Tobias,
Don't want to scare you away, but these has being on my mind ever since I started to use your OggDS. Of course, these are my suggestions, doing it or not it is solely up to you.
1) Add support for vorbisgain tags.
2) Add an option to auto load subtitle on default, user can turn it on and off. Or the filter can detect subtitle which is being used when there are multiple files in a playlist and enable the next one by default. The reason for this is, for those of us who did 2 or more cd rips; if we enable the subtitle on the first cd, we have to get up and enable the subtitle when the 2nd cd starts....
3) Zuggy has implemented a new version of srt for his subrip program. With this new one, you can store subtitle coordinates. Is it possible to add that to the oggDS?
The format is something like this...
7
00:01:23,049 --> 00:01:25,108 X1:208 X2:512 Y1:418 Y2:448
Everything's ready, milady.
8
00:01:30,690 --> 00:01:32,624 X1:233 X2:491 Y1:418 Y2:446

Tobias, the whole community thanks you for your effort. Are you working with Monty and gang towards the goal of future compatibility? Also, have you had any time to fix some of the stability problems associated with OggCut?
Thank you so much,

This is related to the subtitle mixer project. Currently I'm doing also a lot of bug fixes for the subtitle mixer including extensive testing on all platforms. It shouldn't be too difficult to add support for coordinates. Do you know what's the unit? Sounds like pixel with origin in the upper left corner.

I will add this as soon as possible. Anyway I will add an "ignore size" and "ignore color" option because my personal opinion is that the user should choose his preferred font and size.

Hurray!!
Live can be so nice, all you need is OGM & XCD :p
Great to see, you're back , Tobias!
Is the new version including already support for the enhanced audio-&-subtitle-tags ( I mean, the hiding ot terms in brackets, as I mailed you, eg "English(eng[t])")
For those, not knowing what I speak about, the term in bracket is iso639, so that future XCD-players (and their menu) can identify the streams. and the [t] stands for translation, so that player is forced to enable this subtitle when an audio-stream in same language is chosen. such a term in [] is for sure not available for audio-streams, they just contain (), but only for subs.

btw, take a look to this thread

They talk about a problem with ogm and AC3 audio streams and it looks like that the problem could be the oggDS. Maybe you can fix the problem.
Go on with the good work.

To support this I need a mapping to the LCID values. Please have a look at Microsoft LCID codes (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dx8_c/directx_cpp/htm/workingwithlcidsscript.asp) and give me mapping between the codes in the lower part (primary langauge) and the ISO codes. Programms like Windows Media Player take only the LCID into account. (The LCID is reported by my filters)
BTW: If you use the strings from the multiplexer property page or if you use OggMux than the LCIDs are already reported accordingly.

Tobias,
I am not zuggy, therefore I asked him about it, here are his replies... BTW, what about my first two suggestions, are they workable?
To be clear I'm not author of that subCoordinate format, it's Brain.

Yes, but how to utilize it?
X1,Y1------X2,Y1

X1,Y2------X2,Y2
I suppose it was made originally for bmp outputs, where you could specify the rectangle. But I don't know (but hope) if you can render subpicture generated out of TrueType font to fit these bounds.
And in addition to this, the coordinates are related to original vob picture size and mpeg-4 video have always another. It could be converted according to mpeg-4 size but the vob picture size is not present in .srt file... But it would be not problem to add this info e.g. as last subtitle. And it must be counted with aspect ratio too, but this is not problem too.

Needed three areas:
Position of subs (tag must be only at start of subtitle)-
<TOP>
<MIDDLE>
<BOTTOM> (default)
<LEFT>
<RIGHT>
<CENTER> (default)
Color of subs-
<FONT COLOR=RED>...</FONT> (sufficient only basic-windows colors, optionally full-hex like to html)
Size of subs-
<FONT SIZE=1>...</FONT> (absolute size)
<FONT SIZE=+1>...</FONT> (incremental size)
<SMALL>...</SMALL> (like to SIZE=-1)
<BIG>...</BIG> (like to SIZE=+1)
It is all the same to me, mainly this features OGM support for future, please.
Taranli Maren

Given the bounds for the subtitle position, wouldnt it be easiest to calculate the center and position the subs just based on that, without worrying about adjusting the size to fit it.

I will try to include all your requests in the next release. Currently I'm still doing some tests for the next release of the subtitle mixer, which will include
- support for position and size of subtitle (which will override the current font size)
- support for font size (but with the option to ignore these tags because my personal opinion is that the user should select his perferred size indepent of the movie)
- support for font name (with option to ignore)
- support for color (also with option to ignore)
- warning and background information if the overlay mode is not used
Currently I'm planning to release the next version on Monday, 23rd
Kind regards,
Tobias

Since I have installed OggDS 0.9.9.3 everything worked fine, but now the streams splitted by OggCut seem to lost the name of 1st audio track and 1st subtitle track, to become named 1 and 3.
This also happens when viewed with SubtitleDS 1.1.2.2 (instead of VobSub 2.18), and reverting to OggDS 0.9.9.1 doesn't help...
http://space.virgilio.it/hehflo@tin.it/images/zp.png
I hope that you will have also time to improve OggCut ;), I'm happy to use your tools, this is quality work to Ogg era and users :).
Edit: ummm... hex editing these OGMs it seems a stupid tag problem, text seems messed up...

OK, sorry for my question but... was the DivX 5.xx (original) + OGM frame bug corrected? You guys know which one I'm talking about? The corrupted frames. Or it will have to be ffdshow?
I currently have no ogm to test, and just wondering about it.

What is 'POSTGAIN'? How can I use it?
Please...
DSPguru
21st September 2002, 12:18
PostGain is a tag i defined for ogg streams that lets the encoder sets the maximal gain value of an encoded stream.
usually, normalization of signal involves a two-pass process, when on the first pass the maximal gain of the source signal is being calculated, and then its being asserted to the source signal prior to the encoding (on the 2nd pass).
with PostGain you can create an encoded, normalized, ogg vorbis stream with only one-pass. that's because the max-gain of the source signal is being calculated while encoding, and then the max-gain value is being stored as a PostGain tag.
this feautre is currently offered by :
- encoders : only BeSweet.
- decoders : Winamp & OggDS.
you could try it out, if you had downladed the latest BeSweetGUI from my webpage, and used the "DSPguru_OGG@90kbps" preset.

O.K.
But what encoded sound? I think, that non-normalized sound (with very low samples) is 'little' degraded at encoding.
Encoder is'nt sensitive on low intensity of sound (at same quality- normalized sound has higher bitrate than non-normalized).

I'm not quite sure what this function should deliver. Anyway I will never modify ogg.dll, vorbis.dll or vorbisenc.dll to stay compatible with the ongoing Xiph development. If you want to get date when I compiled ask just for the data of the file.
Well I have to admit that I did ONE change in the meanwhile:
The definition of the windows project for vorbis dynamic is faulty:
This reuslts in vorbsenc to get compiled again statically in vorbis and an uncessary big size.
BTW: The release on monday will be the subtitle mixer not the oggds filter

it's just about adding one simple function. we used to do this with libVorbis.dll.
you don't even need to modify the source-code, you can simply add another .c file to your project with this tiny code.
anyway, i won't insist about it..

Finally I released the new version of the subtitle mixer (http://tobias.everwicked.com). This is the list of new features / bugfixes:
- Fixed two severe bugs which caused many problems during rendering the graph (GPF)
- Offers also VideoInfo2 media types. This enables the OverlayMixer2 to be drawn in the graph and to use overlay mode (for non XP versions)
- Warning if overlay mode is not available
- UI available in English, German, Spanish, French, Czech and Icelandic. If you want to have more UI languages please contact me.
- Support for font face, size and color tags
- Works now together with video post processing of Windows Media Player (Thanks to Stefan for this tip)
The position from the new SubRip format is not implemented yet because I'm still not quite sure how to calculate the position. In most case the final video is resized on therefore the positions are not valid anymore.
Kind regards,
Tobias
