View Full Version : VDub crashes when audio compression is on

sluddy
17th July 2002, 02:05
I have some MPEG files I want to convert to Divx. I can encode the video when audio stream is set to 'no audio', but when I try to encode the audio as well VDub crashes each time with an Access Violation.
I am using VDub version 1.4.7 and 1.4.10, Divx 5.02 is installed, Fraunhofer MP3 Codec is installed, OS is Windows XP.

Any hints plz?
I _think_ the encoding worked fine a few weeks ago, though I am not 100% sure. There might be some kind of conflict with codecs or programs I installed since then, but I just can't figure out what it is :/

Here is the crashinfo.txt, I hope spamming it here is not considered rude ...

hi sluddy,

it is not a good idea to try both (video+audio)... do as described:

- encode your video just as you like but set audio to direct stream copy
- when your video encodings are finished, than set video to direct stream copy and audio to full processing mode. choose your audio compression and save as avi... that's it

cheers Sill

Maybe you have installed the avi wrapper?
this happens to me when i install it

avi wrapper?? ... I assume, you're talking about wdm-vfw-wrapper ;)

I've to admit that I'm kind of wrong... it is possible - but (only ?) for (uncompressed)*avi and (uncompressed)*wav. afaik, a mpeg-stream will result in his mentioned error message, because of the different file layout...

reasons for my sloppy answer:

- my first experience with VD (convert a mpeg stream with audio transcoding and video conversion at the same time) gave me the same error message, that's why...
- i always encode supported mpeg-streams as described by myself (with no problems)
- and of course fast reading -> no thinking

i'd appreciate an answer for this acces violation caused by a mpeg stream, when audio and video conversion is done at the same time...

regards Sill
