What is your CD-R 80-mins ?

Ookz, at least ask for the brand, the media composition (at least the color if you don't know the material), and how much you can overburn on it.

The absolute best are probably Kodak, but you can get about 10 cheap CD's for 1 kodak CD...

Generally, phthalocyanine and cyanine are good, especially those made by Taido Yuden.

I use STI digital media because they're the only kind of CD-R that will play in my crappy DVD player :/ plus their neat cuz the backing is just silver with no brand label

its cover is black, I'll try to scan it and post here. ;)

For all stuff that I intend to keep longer than a year, I only use
Mitsui SG Ultra or Mitsui Golden Dye (the latter are not as expensive, but I think they are the same as the SG Ultra). I don't use Mitsui Gold/Gold (THE reference CDR, but these are just too expensive)

Mitsui make reference cdrs, they hold the patent on the phtalocyanine dye and they really have a reputation to lose. That means a single bad CDR that leaves their factory is a threat for their company, they won't let it happen (and rather sell the bad stuff to other companies ;) )
