View Full Version : OGM speedup when switching audio tracks

I have muxed SBC divx with 2 OGG audio streams and one subtitle stream. The problem is, whenever I switch to the secondary audio stream, the video/audio playback speed doubles, with the result of everyone moving around really fast and speaking in squeaky, strangely unnerving voices.
The sub works fine, and I can switch back to the primary stream and it runs at regular speed. I am using WMP 6.4 for playback, and have used both ffdshow and the standard 3.11 filter. any solutions?

Thanks for your help

Seems like you used a sampling frequency of 24kHz (or similar) on your secondary audio stream. There are two ways I can think of now to "fix" this:
- don't sample down your source, just encode the 48kHz source with a low quality value
- Use BSPlayer (or any other player that supports it) and change "Playback Rate" to 1/2.
The Problem MIGHT be gone with the next OggDS implementation, thogh.

About low quality 48kHz: I used to do the same thing (downsampling) at the beginning, because I achieved much better results with low-bitrate MP3s this way, but ogg (sorry, I ment to write "vorbis" :) ) is just as good without downsampling.

actually, i dont downsample the audio. At least, if I did, I didnt mean to..hehe. but that looks like it was the problem.

edit: for some reason, when playing multi-stream OGMs (with subtitle and/or extra audio tracks) the Morgan Stream Switcher and (if with subs) the DVobsub filters are both running. What's the deal with this, and is there a fix? I have a nagging feeling that they're causing the stability problems I've been having with playback (not related to the sample rate which, after checking again, was the problem.)

btw i feel stupid for not checking that, despite the fact that I was SURE that I encoded the audio streams properly.

I hear you... :)
I don't use Morgan, I only had problems with it (crashes, off sync after switch, choppy playback after switch) and since I don't use WMP but BSPlayer, I don't need to have Morgan installed.
Also, I don't like the DirectVobSub too much because of the "Aspect Ratio" setting that needs to be edited once in a while. Again, BSPlayer has an option not to use DVobSub but to print the subtitles directly on the screen (w/o goint through DirectShow). The Subs look much nicer this way and don't flicker (that happens w/ DVobSub on my computer)

Oops: I think I mixed something up here - I don't have DVobSub installed at all on my system, what I meant was the Ogg Subtitle Muxer.

Just my opinion,

Well, I do - but when Rendering the OGM with Graphedit, I don't see the Odio Decoder anywhere.
I'll have to check by uninstalling, I guess...

Thanks for the hint!

can't hurt to try right? you could always check what filters are being used by right clicking WiMP or if you're using zoomplayer, got to filters. i hope this solves your problems. ;)
