View Full Version : cue file = unvalid format

2 CUE and 2 related BIN files are succesfully created with DVD2SVCD using a CEE (trial version) or TMPGEnc encoders and VCDI or VCDX as image builders from a previously ripped DVD using DVD2SVCD
mounting the created cue file in the virtual player by DAEMON tools results in Windows suggesting only its own media player as a option to play the file, wich it can't
opening Power DVD 3 and also version 4 (by FOSI) to play the mounted file gives a message "unvalid format" in player

do you still have the mpeg files? if so have you tried playing them?

asha

MPEG files play with selected audio,

mounting the cue files in the virtual player + selecting player on PDVD + press PLAY generates an error code from PDVD:

"ERROR CODE F6F00018
The current display mode is not supported.
PowerDVD does not support the current display mode. (DDraw Overlay mode is recommended)

Please lower the screen resolution and color depth, for example, 800x600 with 256 colors. Or you may adjust the refresh frequency, for example, to 75 Hz."

if your mpeg file plays, then you can either go back and manually re create the cue/bin files or have dvd2svcd do that for you. I'm assuming you haven't tried this option yet.

u must use file mode sometimes for these disc... sometimes the svcd/vcd disc are not recognized by the dvd players... other times they are... if disc mode does not work... go in with file mode and select the AVSEQ01.MPG in the mpeg2 or mpeg1 folder... the bin/cue files are prob fine...

@asha i've seen this happen before where it wont run the move, now i'm not 100% postive yet if this is the same problem as my friend had but lets find out. The reason he could not view the files with power dvd or win dvd is the video card he had in his system was a 2meg card. Now i'm not saying yours is a 2 meg card but im' implying that your video card is whacked or not powerful enough to do the resolution needed. I'm pretty knowledgeable in what type's of video cards will not work with powerdvd and windvd. So what i'm wondering is whats the make and model of your video card? Also make sure your display mode is atleast 800x600 16 bit color.

After you load the cue/bin files in deamon tools you then have to open power dvd and select the drive letter that you loaded the cue/bin files in...So if you loaded it in drive e: of deamon tools you will select that drive to play the movie in.

Your video card is new so makes sure you have the latest video drivers and the latest directx.... 1 more thing you can load the mpeg files in windows media player have you tried doing so? and if you have what did the error message say?

Hi there,

I wonder if this is one of those PowerDVD 4.0 XP "Lite" versions that once were bundled somehow and thus are limited and can't play SVCDs. Can you play DVDs successfully with it?

See this thread - I think I just had some kind of mind flash and remebered this issue: ;)

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20228

Hope this helps,
Gerti

drivers were all in place
reinstalled every application to convert/play/burn(nero5) dvd + extra cdrwin4
also used suggestion by a member on another problem to restart windows right after creation was finished
-> on mounting cue file in daemon the same window pops up
close it and start dvd4, select virtual player and voila film plays
still excisting problems:
- subtitles, permanent work OK, non permanent can't be switched on in powerdvd but work fine in stand alone player, might be a problem with light version of powerdvd as suggested
- converted a 2h50min film with bitrate settings as suggested by default but cd size 740 -> between 163 and 9999min -> 3cds size "740" -> dvd2svcd creates 2 bin files of more then 820Mb instead of 3, min average 1600 was not selected, new creation with bitrate settings 1-100min 1cd size 740 and 100-200min 2cd's size 740 -> dvd2svcd creates 1 binfile large enough to burn an a 700Mb and 1 > 820Mb (cdr's > 700Mb are not yet found)
- created svcd of 120min on 1 cdr, plays OK on powerdvd, same cdr on stand alone player stops playing after 59min59sec playing time switches to 99min99sec, I will try to find out more about stand alone player

Selectable subs will only work on a standalone player, until now there is no software player that can handle them.
