Have you done any testsm regarding Avisynth 1,06beta , 1.07d and 2.0.1?
Which is faster and better in quality?

I just did a quick test encoding chapter 23 of The Green Mile (5:19 - 7983 frames) on my aging Athlon 600, 320MB SDRAM, Windows 2000.

AVISynth 1.06 beta
First Pass : 20 minutes, 56 seconds (6.355 fps)
Second Pass : 14 minutes, 8 (9.409 fps)
Total : 35 minutes, 5 seconds

AVISynth 1.07d (Version 2.0.1 from AVISynth 2 page on SourceForge.net)
First Pass : 20 minutes, 49 (6.389 fps)
Second Pass : 14 minutes, 5 (9.442 fps)
Total : 34 minutes, 55 seconds

There is absolutely no difference in quality, both files were identical (doing a byte by byte comparison). I don't know if there's even an increase in speed, could be down to other programs using CPU cycles (I exited most programs before the test).

Hey guys this question can't be answered so generally.
Most time is consumed by filters, and those maybe different in quality as well speed, but there too you have to investigate each.
As you saw there is no difference in then main "engine", the basic quality is ~100% as there are nearly no known errors for straight tasks (there are some color conversion topics).
