I am new to DivX, so first I have read a lot of messages in different
forums, such as Newbies, DivX5 encoding etc.
Till now I put my Digital8 movies via Pinnacle Studio 7, TMPGenc and
Ulead Movie Factory to an SVCD cd, to play on my standalone Philips DVD722 player.
This is very easy to do because I can use a template for SVCD PAL, or DVD PAL and I get an very good quality to show on my TV.
Now I want to do the same with DivX, so I use VirtualDub 1.4.10, put
the settings as described in many guides (bitrate to 1000 kbps). But I get a quality in DivX what is worser then in SVCD. Maybe I'm doing something wrong (I'm a newbie!) but now my question. Is it not possible to make templates for DivX for different qualities, such as
SVCD and/or DVD quality, which settings for filters etc. After reading
many of the forums it looks like more people (not only newbies) have
the same problem. I don't know if this is possible, but I'm sure it
will help a lot of people to get good quality of DivX movies to play
on their PC.
