Angel opening credits blocky

Hi!

I wanted to encode the first season of Angel RC2 with DVD2SVCD. Each episode (approx. 42 min.) should be with 2 languages and 2 subtitle streams on 1 80 min. CD. But when I watch the result the opening credits (for those who don't know: fast cuts, screen flashes, colored border) are all blocky, same as fast cuts where the screen flashes white in the show itself. Does anyone know if there's a work-around?

I think you answered your own question "fast cuts, screen flashes, colored border". SVCD is not very good at doing any of these. If there is alot of this going on then there is really not all that much you can do. Sorry :(

yeah.. 2370 max isnt enought bitrate for massive motion - the flashing borders on constant scene changing.. just too much to handle..

a workaround? well.. you can set the max bitrate higher(lets say 5000-6000 kbps).. and if your a lucky one with a dvd player that can read cdroms at high speeds then it will help (price doesnt matter on this one.. some of the cheapest players read cdrs faster than some expensive players)

of course it'll be an Xsvcd now cause its out of spec.. but if its just for you then who cares.. test it on a cdrw first if you have one

Hmm, too bad. I was just curious because that Blade bloodbath scene at the beginning looks perfect in a 2-CD-movie with 2 languages.
But I guess I'll just have to live with it. Anyway, thanks for your replies.
