In besweet:

If I want to encode in MP2 joint stereo with toolame, is there a difference between the stereo output mode "stereo" or "surround" in AZID1 ?

1) AZID and TooLame are completely indipendant applications, so it doesn't matter what you take in AZID.

2) You shouldn't use Joint Stereo in MP2 anyway, since it's really really bad. You'll loose all spatial informations, you'll loose much directionality and you'll become many spatial artifacts whatever bitrate you use! (don't try to compare with MP3, MP3 is much better in joint stereo mode)

OK but if i decide to lose the spatial enformations, is it not better to provide to toolame a stereo sound ? or is it he same thing that if I provide a surround sound ?

I'm completety agree with you: it's better to use Stero mode in toolame (with surround information) with a bitrate of 192-224.

But with a bitrate of 128-160 ?

Well, the problem is even normal stereo effects are drastically reduced using Joint Stereo in MP2. I encoded normal Audio CDs in MP2 Joint Stereo, the results were simply awfull!

I highly recommend you to use 192kbps or higher in stereo mode. Any other thing is unacceptable IMHO (well for Mono sources you can of course go for 96kbps or higher)
