Hi, after reauthoring a DVD (16:9) everything looks good, only the picture seems to have been squeezed from top to bottom a little bit. Is there anything that will let me resize the video, everything I find lets you make the video smaller, but how do you make it bigger, also I'd like to do this without having to reencode the m2v all over again. Thanks.

How about some more info such as:

What process did you take to re-encode? Which app and which settings.

I ripped using DVDecrypter, DVD2AVI project file, VAFPI frameserve, CCE, DVDMaestro. Everything looks good except the video looks smaller up and down(16:9). Without reauthoring what can I use to make the video bigger, everything looks in proportion, just slightly smaller than the original.

You do NOT want to start interpolating your frames sizes during encoding, because:

Your authoring app will not accept anything larger than what you already ripped from a commercial DVD.

You will waste bitrate that would better be spent on getting a higher quality result, with less macro-blocking, on your existing frame size

When you playback DVDs, the VOB filters used during playback have excellent scaling abilities anyway.

You will take significantly more time do achieve your encodes, if you are performing interpolation, and if you are trying to MPEG-encode larger frame sizes.

Why not try:

OR:

http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm (look for a file called "AVestensione")

(although these should really be unnecessary)

if you need to try adjusting how your frames are played back. Incidentally, I assume you have selected the correct mode in your DVD player for playback (i.e. "Pan-&-Scan", "LetterBox" etc. etc.)??
Perhaps you are using "Letterbox" playback mode when it may be inappropriate..? what are you using to playback your DVD titles? WinDVD? PowerDVD? Hollywood Magic?

Let me know your findings.
