Memory Upgrade Or Not ?

How much of in increase in speed with CCE will I achieve by upgrading from 256mb to 512mb (roughly)
Basically does any reckon it is worth it ?

You really wont see much in speed increase, i can't give you the #'s but should someone upgrade from 256 to 512 i would say yes. You will be able to multitask alot better with 512 and so that is a good enough reason i think to upgrade. Plus ram prices aren't really that bad right now...

I've tested it before. Yanked out one of my 256MB Crucial sticks and let it encode for about 10mins and took the cce rt speed. I think 512MB gave an increase of 0.01 percent....in other words...no difference.

Same result with 512.

@chainsaw: Can't really share your view with win98se, seems oblivious to extra RAM. Perhaps on other OS?

I recently upped from 256 to 512 of pc-2100 on winxp, and I saw a noticeable increase in performance and speed. Not to mention the ability to seamlessly use other applications while CCE is running in the background :)

@ux-3 i dont use windows 98 se, haven't for a year now i'm talking about windows 2000 or windows xp only. and since he's using windows 2000 then my view works:)

Not to be picky, but you said something like: "should someone upgrade". I just raised the objection specifically fo 98se. I found your statement to broad, as my experience indicate otherwise in case of 98se. I don't exactly recommend using it, but some folks do...

@ux-3 we have discussed this in great detail months ago, you can do a search on it... as in being to broad, i dont agree as he is using windows 2000 and i was responding to him not "in general as you took it" also being picky is not a bad quality i'm that way myself.
