hey guys,

i wanna encode one of my dvd's to svcd but there is one problem that confuses me.. the movie itself is widescreen but the subtitles are hardcoded in the bottom black bar making it a 4:3 movie..

how can i best encode this movie?

below are two previewshots of 4:3 and 16:9 encoding in DVD2SVCD.

Use widescreen, but change the placement of the subs to be over the movie like they are on about every other film. That way you can get your subs and you won't have a stretched image.

The 4:3 or 16:9 refers to the original source. If the black bars are encoded on the original video stream then you use 4:3. If it's just the widescreen picture without the black bars, then use 16:9. In this case, use 4:3.
