hey guys,

i wanna encode one of my dvd's to svcd but there is one problem that confuses me.. the movie itself is widescreen but the subtitles are hardcoded in the bottom black bar making it a 4:3 movie..

how can i best encode this movie?

below are two previewshots of 4:3 and 16:9 encoding in DVD2SVCD.

Lev, If I were you I would only rip a one cell which will give you a ifo file and vob wich is vry small(maybe 150mb) and do a test.
It will take you only about 30 minutes more or less dipends on your system.

Yeah the 16-9 looks better to me, the other is totally egg shaped.

yes, the 16:9 one looks ok in the screenshot, but won't these pictures get stretched wider when displayed on at TV screen? Then the 16:9 one will look squashed(short and fat) and the 4:3 one will look ok probably. do a short chapter to make sure before doing the whole movie.

edit: also, you shouldn't cross post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29071), it's against the rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm).
