I just did a cap of a Marx brothers movie form Laserdisc. Although, the capture looks great I wanted to 'clean' up the picture a bit. Using Virtualdub, I have tried a number of smoothers, and noise reduction plugins but they seem to create more problems than solve. Could someone give me some exact recommendations for cleaning up an old black and white movie from laserdisc (from not a great print)? If a picture would help I can upload. Thanks[/code]

I did a rip of an LD-Rip of Schindler's list recently and temporalsmoother(4,1) gave me very good results. Almost no artefacting (maybe due to the b/w picture?) but a lot of noise removed.
Also try if you can ivtc it (maybe even decimate it down to an original 20fps or whatever those really old movies were shot in)
