When i run my movie through the preview in dvd2avi...the first 15 mins is NTSC Interlaced. Then it switches to Film starting at 4% and climbs up (haven't let it run long enough to see if it ever got to 95, but it was around 80's a third of the way through). The Progressive and Interlaced keep switching at a crazy rate.

So what do i do? Force Film? No? IVTC?

Please help

I'd ignore the mpeg2 metadata -- what dvd2avi displays to you during preview -- and would examine, frame-by-frame, 2 different sections of this dvd. One scene in the "NTSC" section, and another scene in the "FILM" section.

In both cases, I'd look for a scene with movement, so that any interlace artifacts are easy to see.

1) Make sure Force FILM is turned off. Don't use it for this content.

2) Look at at least 5 frames in a row. If 2 frames out of 5 have interlacing, you have telecined content. Run IVTC.

3) If all 5 frames show interlacing, just deinterlace.

Hopefully, both the give you the same result. :D
