This is a simple question. I would Like to know if it is possible to just copy a DVD5 to my computer with Smart Ripper using the backup method and just burning the VIDEO_TS with nero and have a perfect backup or is there something else I need to do to play it in all my dvd players?

For any DVD that is under 4.37GB all you have to do is rip it and then burn it. However try to duplicate the structure of the DVD as much as you can. For example if the original had an empty AUDIO_TS then you should also create it, if it didnt then dont bother.

If you're using Nero to burn it make sure you select DVD-Video from the menu and don't burn it as a standard DVD ISO.

Also make sure you have turned of the Joliet option.

I personally use PrimoDVD 2.0 to burn mine as it seems to create the most compliant structure (UDF-ISO, No Joliet)

You could also use the latest version of DVD Decrypter that will rip the DVD into an ISO image, and also write it to your DVD-R

Hope this helps,
Cinders.

I would recommend DVD Decrypter for DVD-5s.
Just rip the original in "ISO read" mode then write the resulting ISO file to DVD-R in "ISO write" mode.
That's it one program and one file!

Cinders, thanks for pointing that out but am I not entitled to express my opinion?
