I've ripped Hannibal with Smartripper with "Backup way", like all the movies i've ripped till today. I have problems ripping in WIN XP though, with last two movies. I think that this turned up when i installed NERO 5.5. The movie takes about 2 hours to rip. Speed is about 0.9X, before that i have ripped the movie in about 15 minutes. I've Pionner 105. But this isn't the major problem.
Problem i have with Hannibal begins in DVD2AVI. If i choose (open) all VOB files (with menus) than preview runs fine. But if i open only movie VOBs than preview have this green line at the right side verticaly and also very blocky picture. Why is that. I've made about 5 divx movies with this method with no problems.
Ok, then i saved project with all VOB files loaded (with menus) and thougt that everything will be OK, but when i open DVD2AVI project in Gknot, the picture is again very blocky (like some kind of copy protection). Am i doing something wrong or is there different way with Hannibal?

Disc was region 2 and i noticed that wherever there is movement there are blocks. Also i want to play disc from hard disk with Powerdvd XP, i cant fast forward or rewind, i can only move from chapter to chapter. Strange, i haven't noticed this at other discs never.

Is it possible that ripping was not a problem (i don't have the disc right now), because i tryed to rip different disc (but as i said, i had problem with the last two discs, not only Hannibal) on WIN2000 (my backup SYSTEM) and ripping was fast again - 15 minutes.

I have the same problem with Hannibal region 2 disc.
It has that green line on the right, and whole movie is messed up...something like macrovision (but it aint macro because I have demacroed it).
Tried ripping with DVDdecrypter and SmartRipper but they gave the same result.
I noticed that there is in first movie vob, first few frames, bit of main film menu and I think it causes problems.
If I include vob 0 (the one with menues) there aint any artefacts but this way I cant make workin d2v project.

I guess that our discs were made on the same place and thats why we have exact the same problem...Slovenia and Croatia aint that far away ;)
Have a friend that bought Hannibal DVD in Singapore and didn't have any problem with it

I think this is a codec problem. I see the same problem before on the divx 5.0 upper version codec. Try use 3.11 version.

What does divx have to do with this? These are MPEG2 streams from the VOB files themselves.

I have Hannibal but it's R1 and i don't have the problem. This is a wierd issue you guys have. I don't know what to tell you.
