Hello--

I have been successful and content with converting VCD's for a while now, but from what I have been reading lately, SVCD's seem to be much better quality. I recently read the Official Q+A for DVD2Svcd and it stated that you can use older versions of Tmpg. I updated my TMPG over 30 days ago, and the MPEG 2 support ran out. Can I still use my version of TMPG (2.5) or must I buy the full version to recieve MPEG 2 support.

Thank you for your time,
Brock

As far as I know you will have to pay to get MPEG 2 support. You might be able to get extend that by uninstalling the old version and installing a new version of TMPG. I dont know for sure if this will work.

Just so you know most people think that CCE is better at making SVCDs and TMPG is better at VCDs.

Jason28 is totally right when he says that there is a 30 day limit on the mpeg2 support in tmpgenc unless you buy the program. Also cce is much better at creating svcd's and is faster too but thats my 2 cents:)

If you do plan to buy an MPEG-2 encoder, I suggest you go with CCE for reasons stated by Chainsaw above. It's a lot more expensive, but it really is worth it, believe us :)
