View Full Version : Appending after-credits movie scenes

In some movies, there are some additionnal scenes afters the credits (like in Scarie Movie, when Doofy talks to his Vacuum cleaner). By using the append credits option in Gknot i am obliged to include these scenes in the credits, which gives out a very bad quality. What i'd like to do is to encode the credits at a lower bitrate, and then encode these after-credits scenes with the regular movie bitrate, and append everything to the movie. Is there a way to do that in Gknot ?
If not, should I use Nandub to cut off the scenes, re-encode them, and finally append them ?

Go for second option. i'd use virtualdub for the encoding since nandub can only do divx 3.11 ;)
you could also use xvid which lets encode two credit areas which can be delimited from two sides, i.e., frame xxx to yyy.

I'd manually change the avs files. Save the credits .avs file, open it with a text editor and change the trim(firstframe, lastframe) command so the last scene won't be in it. Then make another .avs file exactly the same but change the trim to the last scene. After GordianKnot has encoded movie and credits, you can encode the last scene (with VDub) and append it (with Nandub).
But I guess this is what you're doing already?

Hi-
You said you're using Nandub, so I'll assume you're working with DivX 3.11 (doesn't work in DivX 5.02-then you have to use one of the other solutions offered). There's a much easier way. After the first pass, open the stats file, and then go to the Stats File Editor Tab. Do everything you'd normally do except the End Credits stuff (adjust Keyframes, F-Size, Motion, Luma Correction, etc.) and then press Calculate. Then, in the Selection area, scroll to the beginning of the End Credits and push [. Then scroll to the end of the End Credits and push ]. Then in the Manual Correction area to the right, set the percent Weight for the End Credits (15%?). Then hit Push and watch how the curve adjusts. Then Save (don't Calculate again). The part after the End Credits will have its full bit rate. This is also useful when you want to give extra bits to high motion scenes or other problem areas of the movie (use 110-120% in those cases).

Thanks for all your answers.
As for the Nandub part, i'm new to divx5 and i always used Gknot, so i didn't know nandub couldn't handle divx5.
