Decombe is a wonderfull tool for those trying to fix interlaced material when encoding to DiVX. However if you already have a DiVX whereby the encoder did not deinterlace it sucks. How powerfull a system would be needed in order to have a realtime deinterlace filter?

Hi-

It can't be fixed either by reencoding or on-the-fly, no matter how fast the system. The fields are gone. Evidently you tried already, but don't blame Decomb-any other deinterlacer will look just as bad. If possible, give the ignorant encoder a piece of your mind, and tell him to come to Doom9 to learn how to do it right.

New motion compensated deinterlace filter (TomsMoComp) Have a look at here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28778

Seems that some testers are needed!

DivX 5 Pro has a fast deinterlace: select "all frames are interlaced" and it will deinterlace them.

If you have a reasonably fast machine, this will work in real time.

I meant for playback not for encoding ;)

ah, sorry, didn't read properly ;-)

But perhaps you can first decode, then encode to DivX (with deinterlace), then decode again - voila - perfectly deinterlaced pictures!!!

the ATI MMC deinterlaces the picture whilst capturing to mpeg-2, yes in realtime.
