View Full Version : MP42: How to convert it?

I found an avi file. But, as I wanted to cut it, I tried to open it with nandub (or virtualdub, it didn't change anything).
Then, I get a message that said that it didn't find a decompressor for MP42... and that I have to "use a video for Windows Codec. DirectShow is not suitable" or something like that.

I try to use avi FourCC to change the Header to use a DivX codec but it makes the video not visible.

So, I would like to know if there is a program to avoid to recompress it (like asftools for asf format for example) and that transform the video in DiVX format? If it is impossible, of course, tell it also and I will recompress it.

Thanks for your future response and congratulations for this site.

You must use four cc change and set fourc to DIV3

Thanks, but, as I said, When I try this, the video becomes not visible. WMP reads it in green and Nandub can open it but when you scroll the frames, I always obtain unreadable frame (error -100).
